=Christine Bullard
... to Christine Bullard, former CFAR business administrator*, on her newly minted MBA from St. Leo University!! *Bad news for CFAR... Christine has recently left to work at Grants and Contracts where she will be improving Compass and training people how to use it. Excellent news for us all: Her field experience while at CFAR with the frustrations of Compass is going to translate to changes in the system. With luck and Christine's help, the needle on Emory's Compass might finally settle down and point the correct direction.
Now THAT is Value Added!

=Paula Frew

... to Paula Frew, on what is almost certain to be her first funding from NIH!! Paula was notified this past Saturday that an NIH R03 spin-off application from her 2010 CFAR03 award received a priority score of 11 (8th percentile)!!! The NIH project, "Dose of Hope: A Faith-based Program to Increase Elderly African Americans Participation in Clinical Research,” was conceived after Paula had an unexpectedly strong response from elderly congregants who participated in her CFAR03 project, "There's Hope in Our Soul." Proving once again that a good dose of hope is always worth the investment!

=Guido Silvestri

... to Guido Silvestri, for giving back to the community by serving as Co-Chair of an event on March 7 to be held in conjunction with CROI, now playing in Seattle. CROI-ICAR 2012 Awards will recognize talented young Italian HIV/AIDS investigators and their mentors while simultaneously addressing the crucial research question: "Can Italians find an acceptable cup of expresso in Seattle?" The parent organization, ICAR (Italian Conference on AIDS and Retroviruses), will next meet in Naples this coming June.

Spotlight! | CFAR @ CROI 2012

It's a quiet week in CFAR-land since a good chunk of our membership is off galavanting around three time zones away in Seattle where the weather is cool, the skies are blue (well, maybe not), and the science is sizzling.

Twenty two* of our members are giving a total of 32 presentations at CROI this week (7 oral presentations and 25 posters).

Yay for us!!

Want to see the full list of yummy delights those of us stuck in Atlanta are missing? Click here.
