“We’ve got to keep pushing. We’ve got to make access to health care more available and affordable for folks living with HIV.”
-- President Obama June 13, 2013

President Obama

... to honorary CFAR member President Obama for signing, on July 15, an Executive Order creating the HIV Care Continuum Initiative that is intended to promote: 1) integration of HIV prevention and care efforts; 2) expansion of successful testing and service delivery models; 3) reduction of barriers to testing and treatment access; and 4) implementation of evidence-based interventions along the continuum.

     Carlos del Rio

... to the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases for having the good sense to publish, in March 2011, the trés influential article: "The Spectrum of Engagement in HIV Care and its Relevance to Test-and-Treat Strategies for Prevention of HIV Infection," co-authored by Carlos del Rio. Carlos was at the White House to see the paper he co-authored translated into a national Initiative the president signed. How cool is that?!
