Happy Birthday

... to Mary Galinski (November 5), Tianwei Yu (November 6), Aaron Siegler (November 13), and Craig Bond (November 17)

     Magic Johnson

Magic Johnson handled himself well when Kimbi Hagen asked him to comment publicly -- at the 2013 National CFAR Science Symposium in Miami -- on whether, after 22 years of infection, he and his wife still use condoms or if they now rely on Treatment as Prevention to avoid transmitting his HIV.
For Magic Johnson's response, see 'Quote of the Day' above

Magic Johnson

Like Kimbi, Ray Schinazi got an unparalleled opportunity to redefine himself as "vertically challenged" when he was in Miami to give the Dr. Walter Scott Memorial Lecture at the National CFAR Science Symposium ("Science and Serendipity in Antiviral Drug Discovery").

     Ted-X sign

Thanks to Carlos del Rio and a Ted Talk he gave on November 9 at the Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland, our CFAR now stands side by side with the first Palestinian doctor in Israel, an architect of the Beijing airport, and the founder of the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust in international prestige and global coolness.

Fulton County

Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness recently received funding from the Merck Foundation and the GA Dept of Public Health to link individuals with HIV to care and treatment. Linkage Coordinators will work with clients to bridge the gap between testing programs supported through the High Impact HIV Prevention Program and care at area primary care clinics.
