     Patrick Sullivan

In his initial InvolveMENt study (1R01HD067111), Patrick Sullivan examined the black/white disparity in new HIV infections among MSM in Atlanta and determined that a major reason is that black MSMs are much more likey to have the life changing misfortune of encountering previously undiagnosed HIV+ sex partners who have a high viral load. So why are are HIV+ black MSM in Atlanta so much more likely not to have been tested, be on antiretrovirals, or have a controlled viral load? In other words, why are they losing out at pretty much every step in the Continuum of Care? Stay tuned for findings from Patrick's new R01-funded "InvolveMENt+" project: 1R01AI112723 Understanding Disparities in Effective HIV Treatment and Prevention.
