Suffer from Writers Block or Procrastination? The Center for Faculty Development and Excellence (CFDE) Writing Groups has issued its 2016-17 Call for Participants. Writing groups are small, with four to seven members each, and they can help.
Deadline for applying: November 23.
Online application link.
The below was adapted from an email sent by Allison Adams
Writing Group participants can choose between groups that meet for regular in-person writing sessions or virtual, online 'writing accountability' groups that provide email check-ins and Google hangouts.
In all cases, writing groups offer support, accountability, structure, and camaraderie for faculty who are under the gun to get writing done, a solution to the professional isolation that often accompanies writing, and a source for constructive critical feedback on work in progress.
The CFDE serves as scheduler and convener, sends meeting reminders and online group prompts, and secures meeting spaces. CFDE associate director Allison Adams will meet once with each group during the semester.
The writing groups begin meeting January 2017 for the spring semester and are given the option to continue into the following Fall.
NOTE: If you are or have participated in a CFDE writing group that is continuing to meet, you do not need to re-enroll.
