Divider RuleIn Memoriam... Oppy

Mars, the next frontier.
This was the voyage of the NASA rover "Opportunity."

Her three month mission ...
To explore a strange new world,
To seek out evidence of old life
And new information.
To boldly go where no rover has gone before.

Oppy's 90 day mission ended up lasting 15 years, generated reams of unexpected data, and only ended when the largest and most severe dust storm in Mars recorded history prompted one final message → →

RIP Oppy.

Your Opinion Solicited:
HIV/AIDS Research Priorities and Guidelines for Determining AIDS Funding

As all HIV investigators know, the NIH notice NOT-OD-15-137 -- aka "The NIH AIDS Priorities" -- can rule your research life because it deliniates what does and does not qualify for NIH AIDS dollars.

Heads Up: The Office of AIDS Research (OAR) has just announced that they are seeking public (i.e. YOUR) opinion about revisions to the NIH AIDS Priorities.

Feedback will be used by OAR to develop the NIH Five-Year Strategic Plan for HIV/AIDS and Related Research for fiscal years (FY) 2021 through 2025.

The RFI is open for public comment through April 13, 2019.
Click here to read the RFI and provide YOUR input

Divider Rule Mentoring Moment... by Sam Jenness

     Mentoring Moment...
     Sam Jenness blog

Are you a new NIH study section reviewer? Fear not! CFAR Developmental Core Awardee, Samuel (Sam) Jenness has put together a blog post that you will find very helpful. He based it on responses he received to a request for assistance sent to the Twitterverse asking for NIH review tips.

Sam's Medium.com blog post organizes the most helpful responses thematically: "Respect the Work, Take Time for Review" | "How to Focus the Written Review" | "Prepping for the Meeting" | "Considerations for Innovative Research" | "At the Meeting" | "Understand NIH's Utimate Goal for Review" and | "Most Important: Bring Snacks and Coffee!"
