Aaron Siegler and Patrick Sullivan have just received new R01 funding from NIH/NIAD for Integrating a Combination HIV Prevention Intervention into a Widely-used Geosocial App for Chinese MSM (R01AI143875).

Aaron and Patrick's new grant will use their combined expertise in geo-location, home-based HIV services, and the development of smartphone apps to design and pilot test a combination intervention intended to make it as easy as possible for Chinese MSM to guage their HIV risk, identify prevention services for their specific needs, and access those services as efficiently as possible.

Divider Rule Mentoring Moment... by Tami Hutto

     Mentoring Moment...

This just in from Tami Hutto (Assoc. Director, Career Management Center, Goizueta Business School) -- sent to the Atlanta Society of Mentors-Emory:

"Really great podcast on the power of small things, relevant to our daily interactions with each other. Shaunti Feldhan is a social researcher and she has research and a methodology that has led her to the tips and process she developed (the challenge below) for strengthening relationships. The main pattern she found throughout her research projects was that, "how you thive has more to do with how you are choosing to treat others, than how you are treated".

30-Day Kindness Challenge
Pick one person with whom you want a better relationship. Then for 30 days, you will: (watch/listen to the podcast for details on how to implement it)

• Say nothing negative about your person—either to them or about them to anyone else. (If negative feedback is unavoidable --be constructive and encouraging without a negative tone.)

• Every day, find one thing that you can sincerely praise or affirm about your person and tell them, AND tell someone else. Affirming your person to others, positively impacts your mindset around your relationship.

• Every day, do one small act of kindness or generosity for your person (could be as simple as putting your phone down when they are talking to you, even when you are in the middle of something)."
