... to the CFAR HIV & Aging Scientific Working Group on having their second mentee in a row selected as a Scholar in the prestigious "Sustained Training on Aging and HIV Research (STAHR) Program."

  • Alexis Bender will begin her first of three years as a STAHR Scholar by attending the STAHR Summer Workshop and Research Institute at UCSD this July-August.

  • Alexis will overlap with the HIV & Aging SWG's first STAHR Scholar, Anna Rubtsova, who will be spending her third and final summer at the Institute this year.

Nominations / Self-Nominations sought: NIH Awards Program
The NIH Sexual & Gender Minority (SGM) Investigator Awards Program was developed to recognize early - stage investigators who have made substantial, outstanding research contributions in areas related to SGM health and who are poised to become future leaders or are already leading the field of SGM health research.

The NIH SGMRO is currently soliciting nominations for the 2019 NIH SGM Investigator Awards. The NIH SGMRO will make two non-monetary awards this year.

Gov. Brian Kemp has signed a bill to create a pilot program that will provide PrEP to people at high risk of contracting HIV. The Republican-sponsored House Bill 290 was the second measure Gov. Kemp has signed this year to address Georgia's worst-in-the-nation HIV epidemic.
