... to Ashwanth Francis for scoring his very first NIH funding (R21AI145541).

If successful, Ashwanth's new R21 -- DELINEATING A ROLE FOR CA IN HIV-1 NUCLEAR TRANSPORT TO SITES OF INTEGRATION -- will illuminate a previously under-appreciated step in HIV-1's life cycle: the role that the HIV-1 capsid protein plays in cellular integration.

National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

Dear Community Partners,

On National Women & Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NWGHAAD), we recognize the importance of working to fight the HIV epidemic among women and girls in the U.S. In 2018, nearly 1 in 5 new HIV diagnoses was among women, but women are less likely to get tested or be aware of their status than men.

This year, the theme of NWGHAAD is "HIV Prevention Starts with Me: Ending the HIV Epidemic Together." This theme focuses on the importance of working together to end the HIV epidemic for all impacted communities.

In honor of NWGHAAD we encourage everyone to get tested and know their status.
