Divider Rule Mentoring Moment... Classes in the English Language Support Program

     Mentoring Moment...

Would advancing your English language skills help you achieve your professional goals?

Are you a full-time postdoctoral fellow or researcher with Emory benefits?

If your answer to both of these questions is "Yes!", then you might be interested in classes through Laney Graduate School's English Language Support Program.

ELSP 503 (May 18- June 26): [Online if Emory is still closed]
503 is specifically designed to improve the oral communication skills of research employees who feel they communicate at a low-intermediate level. The content of the course will focus on foundational skills including fluency, accuracy, clear pronunciation, and writing. The class will meet twice a week and is currently scheduled for MW 4:00-5:20 but can likely be adjusted to fit participant schedules.

ELSP 697 (May 18- June 26):  [Online if Emory is still closed]
697 is designed to help researchers learn more about the writing conventions in their own fields. It is targeted toward advanced multilingual writers of English. Participants will gain an increased awareness of the moves (sections of text that serve a specific communicative function) in abstracts, introductions, methods, results, and discussion sections. Participants will have the opportunity to apply what they learn to a journal article that they are currentlly writing. The class will meet in person once a week with additional contact hours either online or in individual meetings with an ELSP instructor.

Fall 2020 ELSP courses (August 26- December 15):
Fall courses include various levels of oral communication classes as well as a graduate level writing course that is appropriate for Emory researchers who write at an intermediate or low advanced level.

Interested parties (for Summer, Fall or both) are encouraged to complete a quick questionnaire at Class sized are limited so don't delay.

The English Language Support Program looks forward to helping you advance your English communication skills.
