Effective January 1, 2021 the Emory CFAR leadership structure has changed.

Jim Curran and Eric Hunter have been appointed CFAR Co-Directors Emeriti.

Colleen Kelley has been named Co-Director for Prevention Sciences and
Ann Chahroudi has been named Co-Director for Basic Science.

Carlos del Rio remains in place as CFAR PI and Co-Director for Clinical Science.

... to Jason Ooi and Maria Pino for having conceptualized (Maria) and created (Jason) the cover art selected for this month's edition of Cell.

In this issue (01/21/21), Hoang et al. (460–475) use a rhesus macaque model to show that baricitinib treatment started early after SARS-CoV-2 infection effectively resolves inflammatory signatures in airway macrophages, with decreased lung pathology and inflammation.

The cover art depicts a rhesus macaque in a hot air balloon, made up of alveoli and powered with baricitinib, flying safely through the cytokine storm induced by SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Way cool!
